Wow and yum! This food was fantastic and our fussy kids enjoyed it too! The children's menu is a great addition to options. As for the adults, I usually stay away from pork as I find it's a dry meat but seeing that it was pork belly with ginger, I had to try it. My husband wanted it too but we never allow each other to order the same thing! Husband had the prawns which he loved and I found the ginger pork moorish! Highly recommend it and will definitely return. Thanks Tanganyika Takao :)
Went here for the first time this past weekend and loved it! Staff are lovely and friendly, food is fresh and delicious. The chef kept us all very entertained and cooked our food perfectly! Highly recommend!!!!
Absolutely amazing! I have dietary issues so I'm a pain to feed, they were so lovely and accommodating, I don't remember ever having such great service. The food was spectacular, and my blue steak was cooked blue, something I have begun to suspect is quite a challenge.

This is my favorite place to go for dinner, entertainment plus super friendly staff they really do make you feel like a VIP. I have been many times with family and friends and always enjoyed ourselves especially around the hot plate. The food is always beautiful fresh and Delicious... the Prawns with that lovely creamy sauce is simply exquisite...can't fault them can't wait till the next time yum yum yum

We have been going to this great Japanese restaurant since it opened 6 years ago. We have taken many a friend & family member. Its the only restaurant that I know of that treats you like your one of the family. The food is fantastic, fresh and very tasty. The staff are great and very friendly. Teppanyaki Takao is a gem. A short drive north of Christchurch and you will be treated to a microcosm of Japanese culinary excellence. Service, presentations,flair & exquisite tastes.
This is the first time I have been compelled to review a restaurant. Everything was exceptional.
Grilled prawns were a real treat.
This is our favourite place to dine! They have so much nice food! I recommend the prawns with the sauce that they do for them! Everyone should go here!!!!!

Went with a group of 8 for end of year meal. We all had a great time awesome food and friendly service, some of our group hadn't been to teppanyaki before so great new experience
This is a second time I try a Teppanyaki in NZ... The place has a good view on the second floor and is compact with small space. The staff are friendly and with good manners the English is a bit basic which can lead to some uncertainty but nothing major.
My advice is to let the chef know that you prefer to leave it up to you to handle the salt from your table as sometimes the food can be on the salty side especially having the soya sauce added as a garnish to the food. In general it's still a good place to enjoy in Kaiapoi and there's room for improvement.
Teppanyaki Takao is outstanding. Parking is plentiful. The staff are super friendly and fun. The booking I made was for 8 people and we sat around the teppanyaki bar with ease. Its a very social way to dine and lots of fun. The menu offers a variety of set menu options. They are extremely well priced. Our chef was cool. He catered to our different preferences and kept the food coming. The salmon and seafood were my favourite but also the chicken and beef were great. The bar is well stocked. The warm saki was great and the 3xvariety of cold saki was excellent. Im definitely returning here because we werecso well looked after and so our dinner party was a huge success.
