We stayed two nights in Napier, and after sampling the first night we had to go back for a second, So nice to have a menu focussing on fish and seafood, and nothing let Hunger Monger down. We didnt sample the entire menu, but oysters, scallops, octopus, sushumi, grilled fish, mussels and prawns all excellent. Dessert shared was lovely too, we would recommend this resturant to anyone seeking a fishy place with inspired dishes.
Thought we were going here for an early dinner of fish and chips. Man was I wrong. From this unassuming little place we had best fish meal. Beautiful fresh fish complemented with tasty accompaniments. Service, meal and presentation were first class. My only regret is that we are leaving Napier tomorrow.
I spent a very pleasant night here, staff was very kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. Easily the best seafood I’ve had in Napier, and the atmosphere was wonderful for a solo night on the town, date night, or a family dinner. I hope to return again soon!
Oh this restaurant was just wonderful! The atmosphere was lively, yet calm. The service was warm and welcoming. And most importantly - the food! It was divine. My spouse and I shared the cheese pops and the prawns for starters, and both were delicious. I had the fish and chips for my main. Lightly breaded with tender, flaky fish and perfectly cooked chips - it was done so well. Thank you Hunger Monger for a delicious meal and wonderful evening!
Last time I was in Napier I missed out on dining in - BUT staff were so lovely and they offer a great takeaway menu (photo from last time). I booked a table on this visit and am so happy I did. The space is so nice, relaxed and chic. Service was lovely and so good - food was exceptional. We had the sashimi, KFC fish bites, squid and the scallops. All so tasty - the batter on the fried dishes was insane! Loved all of it, fresh and delicious. Would happily go back anytime!
5 of us went here for dinner. 5 completely empty plates. Best food. Prices very reasonable for our 'large plates' and great meals, just delicious. Very high standard of food here. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend. Service great too! And we are all pretty fussy with food and with service!
If you're craving some seafood this is the place to dine! We had the Oyters, Scallop skewers, mussel and chorizo in beer sauce bucket as well as our mains (also fish meals, highly recommend the yellow curry with fish, unreal!) Quality service from the staff and a good variety of wines to choose from. We will be back again and again !
Amazingly fresh and delicious food here. We ordered the large sashimi platter, crab and mozzarella arancini, raw fish and grilled fish on kumara mash with kimchi. Not a single fault. Tasty tasty tasty. Excellent service from the beautiful Polish lady. Highly recommended.
Best seafood restaurant in Napier. Very friend staff. Right in front of the waterfront. Would definitely come back again! The quality of the food is amazing for the price you pay. We cannot wait to come back again. Still thinking about the grilles octopus 👌👌👌
This is a great restaurant for sea food. Just make sure you book it ahead and they are not open every day.
Food was fresh, delicious not big portion.
We loved most dishes that we ordered: sashimi, crab cake, paua dumplings and grilled snapper.
The only thing we didn’t like was the service. We both felt overlooked comparing to more welcomed local guests as we could see everything happening there, unfortunately we ended up not ordering all the food and wine that could have. In terms of food, it is still highly recommended.
A place near the water. Charming and great service. Got the small plates- perfection- dumplings crab, scallops and pomegrabete coconut fish (my favorite). Everyone else got the fish and chips. Piping hot and they loved them.
Absolute best seafood and Italian style seafood. As well as desserts. And they also have Hell beer which is delicious. The tiramisu is worth going to from where we are in Aucks.
