We went for high tea at Melrose and my family and I were absolutely amazed by everything!
The price was very good for what we got: $36 per person and we each got 5 savouries and 5 sweets, plus a non-alcoholic drink.
The food was beautifully presented, tasted delicious, and the drinks were awesome and unique. We tried the elderflower and rose sodas, each had a very floral and fruity flavour that was not too sweet and very refreshing.
The staff were very helpful, and our waitress happily explained all the treats served with our high tea.
The interior was very elegant, I found myself admiring all the teacup sets on the shelves for decoration.
The Melrose House has an interesting and you could read about it in the garden, and take a short walk around the area.
I'm definitely telling everyone I know about this place, and if I ever go to Nelson again, I'll be returning to this place.
Stunning setting. Had a very enjoyable lunch and I chose roasted vegetable which was better than expected. Beautifully presented and much enjoyed. Really recommend it as a place to visit. Pays to book so you aren't disappointed.

I used to work at Melrose Cafe for 7 months last year, and those 7 months working there were the best months of my life. Melrose cafe is owned by an amazing Family who I had the pleasure to become friends with. They live and breathe this Cafe and put so much love, effort and care into it. Their food is impeccable, so beautifully crafted, and the menu is inclusive for everyone (Vegan, GF, DF etc). The atmosphere is so warm, comfy and friendly, the house is covered around a beautiful mini forest of trees and it is an amazing place to bring your dog, specially in the summer! The staff are some of the most amazing people I've met and they are always so friendly and never fail to put a smile on your face. If you are ever in nelson, I recommend melrose cafe 100%

We discovered this place by accident. Had a lovely lunch here and some tea and scones after. Best choice ever. The lunch was delicious and healthy! The price was great for the quality as well. The staff is very friendly.
There is a lovely garden and you can sit outside on the deck when the weather is nice. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Firstly, I think I have to address the amazing quality of service. The staff are sufficiently attentive without being annoyingly intrusive, and are super friendly - such good customer service. Furthermore, the speed of service (food/drink preparation) has to be mentioned.
Next, the ambience that this place provides is 2nd to none. I'd recommend sitting on the deck outside (especially when the sun is up)..looking and smelling the greenery around is enough to refreshen the senses. The leaves rustling in the wind makes it seem as if the trees are talking to each other. You can even roll in the grass if you want to 🤭 - it adds an extra dimension to the experience.
Lastly, I have to address the quality of food and drinks. Starting with the coffee, they possibly have the best hazelnut latte that we've tried in New Zealand.
We had ordered the big breakfast & poached eggs on toast and those were great choices!
Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone in Nelson!
We had my daughter's surprise bridal shower at Melrose today. All of the staff went along with the secret squirrel plan and it was an absolutely magical day. Thank you so very much to you all for making her day so extremely special. I can't speak highly enough of the service, food, people, atmosphere and all round experience. 5 star in everything, thank you so very very much, you're all such wonderful people and the venue is stunning 🥰
Every December we come home to Motueka for early Christmas. We always go to Malrose for lunch. As we did today. Food was great, house/cafe was great. To top it off was the polite, friendly helpful staff. We have never been disappointed. A must visit when in Nelson. Booking a must.
The cafe gives of a very relaxing vibe with excellent service. The food we ordered are delicious and beautifully decorated. As beautiful as the garden and the building itself. I would definitely visit when I am in Nelson again.

Food over here was impeccably impressive!! One visit is definitely not sufficient to curb your cravings! They have a wide selection of desserts which is a cherry on the cake for me. Totally loved the experience. Looking forward to my next visit for their extremely gorgeous High Tea!
For starters, We had potato w sauté mushrooms with two eggs , for mains ,we had the roast meal which was just heart filling ♥️ and also Creamy mushrooms. For desserts, we had a super creamy and rich lemon posset and also a chocolate cake which was absolutely decadent! It’s a must must visit place!
