GLITEN FREE FISH AND CHIPS!!! And celiac safe too! Many options on the menu are gluten free with a separate fryer. I had a chicken burger, chips (which were sooo good!) and a battered pineapple ring which I thought I’d never be able to eat again! And lovely location beside the beach.

Great location, epic on a sunny summery afternoon. Prices are good, people - all good, parking lot around behind the complex. I would say the food was good but not great, but you couldn't expect too much for decent kiwi tucka. Very nice.
Was recommended to go here after a weekend away to Nelson. Would have to be the best fish and chips I have ever had! Totally generous portions, and the freshest best snapper, which was a massive portion. Great service! Am heading back in a couple of weeks time, and can't wait to go back. I tell everybody who is going to Nelson about this shop! It is a must do!!

well I have had Fish and Chips there and I thought they were great! It was pretty busy and we waited awhile but it was worth it. Lovely location and busy busy staff. Keep up the hard work!
Excellent Fish and Chips, location and these guys really "get" customer service. Very friendly staff and easily the best F & C's in the region. Silver Trumpeter and spicy mussels were amazing. Highly recommended! Will be going back, again, again :)Geoff
Today is their birthday, so we decided to give a try. We ordered 2x Bluecods and chips and found out they were the best and freshest fish you have ever taste and chips were very nice and in good portion. So we will come back even we have to pay full price. Now we find best fish and chips in Nelson. Keep the good work guys!! We will be back.
Fantastic chips have too be the best in the region by far they deserve a golden medal why cant any of the other places get this most important part right?Goddam chips these guys do it right thank god i say they have such the cleanest premises and passion for what they do and it truly reflects in the food utter most respect to you guys i love your work .....my one complaint would be that your food is too good its addictive i cant drive by without coming inn i have to drive the other way or i,d be there every day cheers the sands fish and chip shop your so yummy.X

We're finally back in Nelson from Austin, Texas, USA, and wasted no time getting over to The Sands for our first fish and chips of 2014. YUM! Enjoyed sitting at the tables and bantering with Roy and Bruce, the owners, while munching on gluten-free silver trumpeter, a hot dog, hot chips, and Jenny's favorite "dessert," the corn pattie. Guys, we'll be seeing you often over the next few months!

My favourite fish and chip shop that I’ve visited here in NZ. Super friendly and amazing service and so much choice. Was so pleased that I’d finally found a chippy that served mushy peas!!! The food was delicious and great value for money and I can’t wait to go back for more. Thanks so much! 😊
Best calamari in NZ! I travel NZ for work and try many different restaurants, by far the best fish n chips I've had anywhere! Owners were friendly and overall amazing service, will be going back next time I'm here!! 10/10!
The Sands Fish and Chip shop is in the heart of Tahunanui, surrounded by glorious views and the breeze from the beach. With friendly staff and delicious food, this place is ideal to bring your date or your family. I highly recommend their bacon and egg burger!

Amazing service, felt like I've been going here for my whole life. There was absolutely no slimy fish here, it was perfectly battered and the chips go hard.

Don't bother going anywhere else! Best fish n chips we have had to date. Salt & pepper calamari was delicious, fish was fresh, moist and cooked to perfection. Chicken curry roll was fab and the chips are nice and crispy but not hollow and oily like most we've had elsewhere. Thanks for the great meal! We'll be back!
