Thought the staff were extremely friendly. Ordered the lamb feta and mint yoghurt pizza was absolutely delish with lots of flavour and the thai mussels which was also delicious. Would definately recommend for some tasty food!
Awesome just let this guy take care if you tell him your budget (corporate) he is creative !best bloody pizza I had in a long time - u know why thin crust kin delicious- good beer off tap too - this guy will size you up and deliver Rock on I say - work visit to Nelson
I have missed canneloni since I had to become GF and it was amazing to be able to eat it again - GF and homemade! The ambience was nice and relaxed and the service was excellent, never a dirty plate left on the table. I will definitely be going back.

Right from the start, nothing seemed like too much trouble for the staff. Great service from the table reservation, to the special dietary requirements of one of our number (GF). Well done you guys.

I have been visiting Nelson every 6-8 weeks for the past five years and generally visit Hot Rock during my stay. I can honestly say in all the times I have been there I have never had a bad meal. The hosts are always friendly even when the place is full over summer. The food is always fresh and tasty. The pizza and pasta are up there with the best in the country and the desserts are to die for. Great wine list and beer selection. It's not the flashiest place around but more than delivers.
My wife and I never miss on having dinner and drinks at this friendly well priced restaurant. The service is great and the menu sufficient. What sells us is the incomparable ambience of the place and the owner, the wine selection and the irresistible fragance of good cooking.
This is not the Taj Mahal, but it is great value for money.
People saying in reviews that the food is overpriced clearly don't eat out much. Food is expensive nowadays, get used to it. The prices were fine and the food was superb. I had their seafood pizza, and it was fantastic; the toppings were full of amazing flavor, the crust was lovely and crispy but not chewy, and the service was fantastic. 5 stars, definitely come here.
Absolutely fantastic. My wife and I had the ribs and carbonara respectively. Can't fault a single element on both dishes. Ray the owner and Om the head chef deserve top accolades. It's a pity we come from the North Island. Would highly recommend all to try it for yourself. 💯👍😊

Went back for a second time with friends. For $26.50, the lasagna was a very small portion! Smaller than the salad it came with, it was like a Salad with a side of lasagna. Unfortunate as the first meal (see above 'pasta') was really good. Lasagna was still tasty though, so hopefully they can change the serving size next time :)
Very tidy small restaurant. Quick polite professional service. Not long to wait for the entree or the mains. The serving size was fair and the taste was authentic and true Italian. Very much worth the stop to eat in or take away. Had an awesome time
Awesome pizza. The service was great and they went out of their way to accommodate some of our silly requests. The owner offered us some of his favorite dishes and they were excellent.
The Greek salad was deliciouS, as was the wooly wooly pizza. There was one guy up front and he was amazing. Five stars.
We only did take away. While waiting for our pizza we had a great chat with Ray, a very friendly guy
First time eating here..had a lovely rich glass of Montepulciano while my pizza was being made and enjoyed the atmosphere and the southern man pizza was great. Definitely coming back for a large pizza next time, it was that good.
