Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be treated like Royalty - to be genuinely looked after? I went to Dear Coasties a couple of days ago and the experience was spectacular. I walked in and was pleasantly greeted and went to the counter not too sure of what to get. The waiter suggested in a kind manner to maybe sit down and he'll bring me a menu. I found my ideal seat (they have booths) and ordered my breakfast. The DELICIOUS coffee came first and fast and then my breakfast - the waiter continued to be polite and genuine. The service is exemplary - I have never experienced this at any cafe in New Zealand - NEVER and it is right in Orewa. Don't ever take "Dear Coasties" for granted as this kind of service is rare. The energy and atmosphere is nothing short of stunning - lots of smiles and care. I'm sure with the kind of culture they have created regular customers would be high. Thanks so much Dear Coasties.
I was very impressed, this is not your run of the mill, generic cafe.
The atmosphere is really nice, starting with being greeted by the friendly staff when we got in, right down to choice of mugs and plates in which my delicious decaf coffee was served. The french toast i had tasted great and was presented on the plate like a 5 star hotel. The cafe has a lot of tables and it was very busy, lots of customers. Highly recommend this place!!!

I had the vegan avocado toast which was lovely ,I didnt like the lotus chops but thats personal taste really the rest of it was lovely
My friends had the bug breakfast which was a real big portion and nice mix of usual but some healthy greens added .and my other friend had the chicken burger which must have been good as he inhaled it .
All in all great food overall and generous portions such a hidden gem ,we will definitely be back
Dear Coasties never fails to impress me. Good selection of options with a fusion twist. I've never had anything from the cabinet, but I always told myself that I will try it some day cause it looks so appealing. On this day I had the Kimchi Pancake and my partner had the Eggs Benedict with Salmon. The kimchi pancake had the perfect flavour with the perfect amount of crispiness. The hollaindaise sauce with the Eggs Benedict was on the more vinegary side which I love (hate it when it's too rich and creamy). Eggs were cooked to perfection.
Staff are always super quick and friendly and food always served promptly.
Awesome staff, awesome breakfast. In lockdown 2 and all staff wearing masks. They even check you temperature on entry for piece of mind. Food was excellent as usual, the staff were friendly and service was quick. Well done!

Best brunch in Orewa. Friendly and welcoming staff. Coffee is always lovely. Pancakes are great! Dog parking is an added bonus. Quieter on weekdays.
Very tasty food. Very quick as it was packed and lots of takeaway orders. Lots of gluten free options to choose from. Lovely staff and very friendly. Overall good vibes and good food.

Would definitely recommend if you are in the Orewa area, this place is super cute.
We are on holiday here and aimed to only eat at each restaurant once…this was our exception to that rule. The food was so good the first time we had to come the morning of our last day in town as well. The flat white was fantastic both times. The Dear Coasties Benedict was so delicious and we love that it is served on a rosti—made for a very filling breakfast between two people. The second time we got the avocado smash—the presentation was gorgeous and all the flavors tied perfectly together. It was a lighter meal but equally tasty! Highly recommend this spot!
A great range of pastries and sweet treats. It caters to all dietary requirements. A good use of indoor and outdoor flow. You can use free wifi & complete work independently. Service on arrival is great and the staff are friendly.
So good…..lots of people in the cafe on the way walk to the Orewa beach that make me want to try some even busy time and make me have to wait for but yes! worth it . No wonder why many people come here . They have many pastries looks good and the food in the cupboard looks very tasty. I bought the blueberry cheese cake at this time me and all my friends said the same it was super delicious perfect cheesecake ever. Will visit and try another foods and pastries next time for sure. We don’t usually review but because another had written a week ago that it was “disappointing”, we felt we needed to say that it’s a great casual cafe!! 😊 the food is fresh, the service is easy-going and casual, food came out quick and the coffee is top-notch! These young guys know what they are doing which is amazing to see as most young people are not really keen to really work! So we would say; GIVE IT A GO! Please understand that it’s a beach-side cozy cafe 😊🙏 and we should all be thankful that businesses like these are still going for us to enjoy. To the lady who only reviewed to complain, well, your loss for not helping the team here with your “concerns” at time of patron. Our best wishes and lastly they are so good with kids too! A kid broke a sugar jar and the team here were kind to not make a fuss to embarrass the parent 😊🙏💖 thanks again and keep it up 💪⭐️ we look forward to another time back here 😊

I ordered a Salmon Benedict on this Monday. Super yummy! Especially the hash brown underneath that tasted super good! I thought it is made on their own! Crunchy and tasty! The toast is also good that tasted crispy and soft! you can choose combination of a toast and a hash brown underneath! It’s flexible! As a coastie, I’m so proud we have so many delicious cafe in our Orewa beach! I will recommend this cafe to my friends those are lived in other area.
Btw, I’ll order two hash brown as underneath next time.😁😁😁
Been here twice, once with family and once with friends and have always enjoyed their food, atmosphere and service. We ordered their smoked Salmon Benedict, creamy mushroom, squid rings, and iced mocha which were all delicious! A perfect brunch experience that I highly recommend.
Found this little gem on a side street after a friendly waiting on staff stop us to check out the menu which have a great selection of food and was surprised how quick the food come out with the amount of people at the cafe.
Great food, great menu and great service that I'll definitely will be back when I'm in the area.
