Always love going here before taking a walk to the beach and sitting by the ocean. Their portion sizes are great for the fries and their prices are amazing. You cannot go wrong with most fish and chip shops but out of all the ones I have gone to this one has been my favorite by far. Almost every time I am in Takapuna I want to eat here. Plus if you are a uni student on a low budget this place will soon be your best friend. Definitely worth your time and money to get anything from here.
I absolutely love this place and would most definitely recommend this place to anyone! This is by far, one of my favourite places for fish and chips!!
The fish is cooked to perfection, beautifully battered or crumbed. The crumbed oysters and scallops are absolutely delicious!!
Prices are reasonable, but worth every cent!!

Great fish and chip shop. Has fresh fish you can select from the window. They'll even grill or crumb if that's how you like your fish. Not open on Sundays. Friendly and fast service.
I have lived in takapuna most of my life, so have seen owners of that shop come and go. new young couple bought in last year or so, finally got around to trying snapper and chips and liked it, a lot. to make sure, went again tonight ordering for father and myself, and it we both agree, the guy makes a mean snapper and chips, and dad even had some of the banana fritter, which he initially mocked the idea of, lol.
Fast efficient service & great food, we rocked up to... a line out the door and my wife said now what... what is you rock up to the counter place your order & only a few min later we're walking out with two fish one chips which is plenty for the two of us.
We tried TFS today with seeing it on the Fish and chips article, thoroughly enjoyed all we ordered snapper, seadog, scallops and potato fritters
All was perfect! Except for the smaller potatoes fritters I think they put in complimentary as they were not as good as the 2xbig ones I ordered, the smaller ones were not soft inside nor like the big ones so we didn't eat it ...but waste not we shared them to the birds
But everything else yum! Frankie loved the snapper biggy!
Fast, fresh and great for the price. I ordered the Lunch Special #1 for $12 and got a great piece of fish in the burger that was very fresh, and freshly fried chips. It's a good amount for the price and it also comes with a drink. I would recommend.
Fish had to be re-cookedā¦ and they re-cooked my burger aswell to make sure it was hot š„ā¦ Awesome service!
Exactly what Iād expect from fish and chips, was not disappointed. Tasty chips and plenty of options on the menu. They also let you pick fish out the window to be cooked as one of the options. Would highly recommend trying their grilled fish, very tasty. I do miss their deep fried mars bar.
Best fried fish Iāve had compared to all the other fish and chips shop. The fried Tarakihi is the way to go every time. The fries are mediocre but the fish makes up for it.

We have been regular customers at Takapuna Fish Shop in Lake Road, for well over 30 years. We live locally. It is convenient for us.

They are always helpful and reliable for telephone orders. I would recommend Takapuna Fish Shop, especially if you enjoy fish & chips on a summer evening, with sea breezes and sand between your toes on Takapuna Beach, it's not more than a couple of hundred or so metres away.
I donāt normally leave reviews but the fish burger I just had was 11/10. Super fresh, tasty and amazing value. I love you
