I often buy just the POTATOES to go with a home cooked meal, or to eat on their own. They are declicious even heated up in the microwave the next day. Also, I notice they always have very clean windows :)

The missus loves the fish and chips. I personally like the chicken schnitzel for making sammies at home. The chips are VERY good. The char-broiled chicken is a nice alternative to KFC and heaps better than Nandos. The flavour reminds me of a place in California US called El Pollo Loco. A great addition to the variety of eateries and apparently a legend in the Upper Hutt. I would recommend.

Family business of legendary proportions. The food is always more than expected. It’s so very good and quality consistent. Brilliant service and always a guaranteed fav. We travel great distances now that Gerry’s is no longer local, but we need a fix to ensure the legend is secured in our memories and tummies. They’ll be writing campfires about this place in years to come (if the don’t already).

The best chips in town. The potatoes are awesome as well. They have a great range of food, from chicken to lamb to fish - it's all really good and huge portions.

Ordered a two piece chicken snitzel meal pack for $15. I eat with my eyes and this meal was so filling, I couldn't eat it all. The meal was cooked well and the roast potatoes were really yummy and not overcooked, got quite a few potatoes (about 7). Can't wait to try the roast chicken meal next time.

It is my favourite place for takeaways in Upper Hutt. Chicken, wedges and chips are all amazing. Will definetly go back time and time again.

Favourite place to eat ever came back to Upper Hutt after a while still tastes as good as it did I use to get take out weekly every thing always tastes amazing I love the beef meal and they have the best flavouring on there chips

Feels like my dirty little secret but I love this place. We always get the same thing - fish and chips. But I have no doubt the chicken would be good too. The guy is always friendly to my 3.5yo and says hello to her, he once gave her a choc mousse for free which she was stoked with. We usually go early, around 4.30ish so it’s quick and quiet at that time. The chips are sooooo good, I always eat too many cos even though I’m full they taste so good I just can’t help myself. Big pieces of fish too. $20 feeds 3 of us with a fair bit leftover too.

Excellent food and friendly service. My children absolutely loved the beef and ate better than I have seen in a long time!! Food was delicious and the chicken had an amazing flavour and was so juicy. Roast pumpkin was best I have had. Only downside was that they didn't take credit so had to get cash since our debit card was from Australia. But they were friendly even through the process of discovering that after we ordered.

Loved it.always seem to have little extra in my orders.and the best thing is the difference of the way the food is cooked shows immensely in the smell and taste.

I would give 5 stars if it was a few months ago. Chicken recently is overcooked or burnt. Hope owner can pay more attention to quality too. Roast vegetables are still quite nice.

Haven't been here in a few years. Prices have increased by a few dollars or more. Portion sizes seem a bit smaller than what they once were as well. Food was tasty but cold chips.

Very friendly staff. Place was clean. Chicken was moist and chips were crunchy and perfectly cooked. Desserts were amazing especially the banana cake chocolate mousse. Good price for very good dinner.

The lady that served me was friendly. I went for the 1/2 chicken and chips. It was great bang for your buck. I probably should have gone for the 1/4 chicken. The chips are on point with great seasoning. Gravy is simple but banging. The atmosphere was interesting - you feel like your in a diner on Route 66 in the US of A. They have a nice brick wall that should put a photo of the man, the myth the legend - Gerry!

I don't normally eat chicken wings or legs....I just eat the breast...but omg I totally could have licked the bones clean. Absolutely the best chicken I've ever had. Seriously. Gravy was beautiful and the potatoes crunch and with a lot of flavor. Totally recommend

This place is absolutely amazing! I have never had chicken that has tasted this good in NZ. Well worth the drive to get here. Can't describe how much I enjoyed my meal. Service was phenomenal as well.

Gerry’s Charcoal was amazingly tasty. Best charcoal chicken and best chips in Upper Hutt. The order was fast and the 1/2 chicken chips was perfect.
