Excellent service and Excellent food love the pastas ☺
We were overnight in Waiouru en route South and had the most authentic, delicious, filling and huge meal at this surprising restaurant. The pasta was superb, as good as anything we've eaten in Italy and the pizza amazing. Far too much to fit into one meal we were offered a "doggie bag" and noticed most people were taking one too! The service was relaxed and friendly even though we were strangers. A very pleasurable experience, one definitely to repeat!
Have known flora, franco, roberto and emilio for years and to this day they serve one of the best italian cuisine in the north island. They are so friendly and passionate about there restaurant that the quality of service and food is exceptional. we now reside in wellington but always make a special visit to this lovely restaurant when we travel up north. Pasta lovers you must try there fetuccine its to die for and for the pizza lovers you will not find better pizza anywhere than cafe express! so if anyone reads this review and happens to go through waiouru do yourselves a favour and stop in you wont regret it!!!!
Superb coffe tastiest pizza I have ever eaten, and super people:) the pizza especially ... Yum, light, tasty base, tasty fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection! Next time I'm traveling through waiouru pizza and coffee are on my menu ... Many thanks:)
Always a warm welcoming environment, if you want to eat in or take away you will always be met with a smile and fantastic food! The whole menu is yummy but the pizza I think personally is the best! totally authentic Italian pizza.
Great friendly staff. Very down to earth. Food was amazing. Meals so big that you can't finish. Great value for money. Will be back

What a bloody hidden gem. Always travelling from Auckland to foxton and only just tried this place. On my god for a small town cafe restaurant this place is good. Take your expectations of what a cafe in a rural town and ten fold that to this one.
Pizza comes out all melting like goddddam!
Lovely warm cafe, felt homely. We got a regular pizza, fish burger, scoop of chips and two pies. Partner rated pies 6/7, he got a steak bacon and cheese pie. We got the meat lovers pizza and it was delish!! The fish burger was yummy too and MASSIVE, it has two fish fillets in it. The chips though were below average and tasted dry with not much salt. Apart from that everything else was yummy! And definitely priced well for what you get.
Awesome home vibe great food and the staff customer service made my experience that much better while watching rugby regular stop for us when co.ing through waiouru.
Omg, talk about big portions! Taste great, can feed the whole family for a good price too. Definbe back again.

OMG - biggest fish & chip meal I've ever seen, 3 large pieces of fish & fresh as! I could only eat 1 plus half the chips.

food was really good, only reason i am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service isn’t that great. waited a while to be served, and not very welcoming. other than that, i recommend the food!
From Upper Hutt to Taupo and everywhere in between over the last three days, Cafe Express blew every eatery away and some. Best service, beautiful family and exceptional food! By far best value for money you just don’t get these days so thank you to everyone that made our last stop an experience we won’t forget.
