Haven’t had Chicken Laksa in awhile. I guess Selera have one of the better laksa’s available in Auckland.
Though I feel the broth is a bit too thick (or maybe it’s just my preference to have it slightly thinner), it is quite delicious and full of flavour. Serving is decent, more than enough for an average-sized Asian girl 😂
Teh Tarik is alright, not too sweet :)
Portions are really big. Especially the laksa which was super tasty and came in a massive oversized bowl. Lots of meat and noodles and I wanted to finished the whole base but was top much. We were happy with the $18 dishes. Can't speak for price/portion on the more expenny stuff.
Embraced Selera for lunch for the first time and it was so good. The service provided by the boss was really attentive and he was extremely kind. He provided top notch service especially for the price for the food and that’s what makes Selera special.
I got the Hainan chicken rice and it’s one of the best I’ve had in Auckland. The rice was full of chicken flavour and it tasted really authentic. The bean sprouts soaked the soy sauce really well. What I like to do is eat all the bean sprouts first and let the chicken sit in the soy sauce for awhile to soak in all the sauce. My brother got the chicken laksa and the portion was really big and smells wonderful too. Mum got the shrimp and chicken rice noodle and she said it’s good too.
Highly recommend Selera for authentic Malaysian food. Great price and service too! Can’t ask for anymore.
This place gets really busy so it's hard to get an indoor table, especially for bigger groups. However, there are outdoor tables available. It's also good to know that the restaurant has a pay-first policy so that you don't get alarmed when staff takes table orders and asks you to pay. I wished they had Malaysian drinks like kopi or cham. But canned drinks are at $3.
Despite the rather cramped table layout (I had to get the guy behind me to push in his chair just big enough for me to squeeze in), food has been splendid. My personal fave is the pandan chicken which I always get whenever I dine there. All the dishes I've tried so far were great. With my partner being Malaysian, we can definitely say that the food here is authentic and delicious.
You really can’t go wrong with the laksa from Selera!
I love coming here on the warmer evenings and have a big bowl of laksa outside!
The portions are huge and you can pick from so many options to customise your laksa! My personal favourite is the wontons!
The service is quick and friendly! Remember to ask for yours spicy, I always need more spice!
I’d also recommend the curry puffs which come with a half egg in each one!!!
Make sure you visit the one in Kyber Pass, I’d recommend it over the new Selera in the mall
The Newmarket shop have more options n the uncle is so friendly. Been to the Westfield n the shop, been to both twice each.
Newmarket branch have more varieties. 😊 and their milk tea is good.
Delicious and tasty Malaysian dishes with fast service. Portion sizes are huge and great value for money.
The laksa was the absolute best - we got both a chicken and a pork laksa.
They don’t take bookings so you’ll have to try your luck as a walk-in. The restaurant gets quite busy so it may be a bit difficult if you’re going with a bunch of people.
I love the atmosphere of this place, and Ben though it could be a bit cleaner. I had chicken laksa which Was very tasty, other dishes on the menu like the beef rendang are a bit overpriced but definitely worth trying them. Will come back.
Great stuff. Not only authentic but taste great!

Crowded place due to the restaurant being renowned for great Malaysian food. The braised pork fried noodles I had were delicious! Worth coming here again. Parking is a bit difficult, so best to park behind (somewhere close to Teed street), or along Khyber Pass road where parking slots are available.
It was pricey compared to other Malaysian restaurants, but it was worth it. Prawn fired dumplings were so good. The place was so busy, but staff were so friendly. I would like to go back.
Selera has really good Malaysia food. Authentic and tasty. Slightly on the pricey side but that's ok.
Ordered the Curry Lamb With Rice, Fried Buns, Curry Fish Balls, Chicken and Beef Skewers, Dirty Fried Rice With Chicken and Broccoli With Soy Sauce. Reasonable portions for the most part. All the dishes were very well made. Loved the curry sauce especially. I do think there should’ve been a bit more lamb though for the curry lamb but because we ordered lots of other protein so I didn’t mind. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place!
Really love their food especially laksa soup very” authentic and yummy. Wonton soup very flavourful and XO sauce fried rice smell really yum and taste fantastic. Overall just amazing 👌
Portions are very generous, can share or save the rest for lunch the next day. Brisket was a little chewy, had to eat the chunks in one mouthful and chew it whole. The place is always busy which is a good sign.
We ordered curry noodles soup.. the curry broth not bad..quite authentic. Just their yong taufu still lack of taste.if compare the one have in kl. But still the food still good.
Make one dish yummy is not difficult, nearly every dishes yummy is difficult, I love this Malaysia restaurant.
First time eating here and tried Laksa. The broth is so rich and flavourful! A very generous portion. It’s a little bit white spicy (I don’t feel it but my partner felt spicy lol). Will definitely come back! Highly recommended.
Genuine Malaysian food. Great laksa dishes. Extensive menu. Generous sized servings. Prompt service even with full house Sunday lunch. Feels like being back in KL. Not cheap, a bit prìcey, but good value .
