Incredible food, the salmon sushi rolls are addictive one plate was not enough! All the food is fresh and incredible. Presentation is excellent! Will be back!
First of all, let me tell you that I have lived in Japan for 3.5 years and I’m a big washoku fan. It was my first time going to this restaurant and I liked how clean it was (including the toilets). The staff were very attentive and friendly too. We ordered takoyaki (cause I miss Osaka so much!), pork and beef sukiyaki and while takoyaki and pork were nice, broth of sukiyaki was too sweet! I mean much sweeter than authentic Japanese sukiyaki. I wonder if it was a mistake or kiwis prefer (not a kiwi myself) sweeter broth, hence change in sugar amount. But I hope the chef takes into consider that broth was almost too sweet to be for sukiyaki. Overall, we had a really good time.
Very friendly and attentive staff. The bento boxes were great - there was a bit of everything to try on and the portions were more than enough. Loved especially the grilled fish, tempura and pickled aubergine.
We went for lunch and it was truly a gem. Staff and chef are Japanese and the flavors of the dishes were true and authentic. Also appreciate how clean the restaurant and bathrooms are. Definitely a must go! ⭐️
Tomi was a very decent find. We were on holiday in Christchurch and decided to try this place and it did not disappoint.
Plenty of parking out back which is always pleasant, the ambiance inside is actually very Japan like, feels authentic.
The food itself is damn amazing, everything we got tasted excellent, salmon Nigiri was special, I’ve never seen it prepared like this with such a long tail.
And topping it off, service is excellent, always with a smile and the staff were very helpful. Can’t go wrong if you want some tasty Japanese food.
Good restaurant, good Japanese food, Japanese owned. We really enjoyed it. They let us order ahead and they have high chair for our baby. There are some carpark outside the restaurant. Everything is fine. Only thing though, that waiting staff who serves our table with piercing and ponytail with undercut can do better with proper restaurant training.
This is such a great local gem. Have visited twice recently, once for lunch and again for dinner. Everything we have tried here is delicious, especially the sashimi platter and takoyaki balls. Lovely service and relaxed atmosphere.
Tonight was my best ever experience at Tomi. Went with my sister (cause we love the place) and we both agreed it was the best food we've ever had there. The sashimi was out of this world, had mackerel & trumpeter which was a first. Also the carpaccio blew my mind.
I tried testing google translate when we paid to say a compliment including some expletives but turned out it was quite sexual. Be warned! And as always: service was fast, friendly and the food is excellent.
Delicious, fresh and a wonderful experience overall. Would highly recommend their carpaccio. Staff were lovely and attentive, can't wait to go back!
Lunch was good. We ordered the lunch set came with rice, miso soup, salad and pickles. Really enjoyed the food except the pickles.
Went back for lunch. We tried donburi rice bowl and octopus balls. They were delicious.
