This Chinese restaurant has taken me by surprise. Wasn’t expecting much from Christchurch (as I’m from Auckland) but this Cantonese style Chinese restaurant is quite tasty and portion size is reasonable. We had Peking duck with pancake, chicken cashewnuts, seafood tofu hotpot and garlic sautéed beans. To top off the evening we were given complimentary mung bean pudding. Walked out with a full happy tummy 😋
After having local food for 10 days. We are craving for Chinese food. We manage to try this restaurant visited by many Chinese living in Christchurch. It is Hongkong style food.
Pickled duck wings.
Steam blue cod fish.
Ginger and spring onion Venison hot plate.
Crispy skin Peking duck.
Steamed oyster with vermicelli.
All cooked to perfection and taste like food eaten in Hongkong.

Honey chicken is yum! Like the fact they we've hot green tea, helps to cleanse between foods. Can get a little rowdy during the busier times, but all places can.
This place makes good food, but portion sizes are smaller than a few other Chinese Restaurants that we frequent. Also prices are a little higher. But They still do good food and I can recommend. Friendly staff and good service.
We went here for a late dinner on Monday night. We went for their set menu ( $27 pp ) and also had their steamed blue cod fish for $50. All the foods were great. We enjoyed the fish, their soup and fried rice were really good too. Service was efficient and staffs were welcoming. Will def come back. :)
Nice food. A bit expensive considering the quantity of food provided. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly as well. There was a delay in getting my order but the staff apologized for it.
Hands down the best Chinese in Christchurch! We would go here/have takeaways once a fortnight! It's fresh! The staff and lovely and the portions are great!
Peking duck is definately worth the price and is something different to add to your meal
Good dumplings, fast service, friendly staff and heaps of seating. This place is good for those BYO nights out, especially if you work around the Addington area.
Finally tried their version of dimsum/yumcha, food & service were average overall. The juicy pork bun, a.k.a Xiao Long Bao小龙包 were disappointing. Hubby & I regretted ordering two dishes of them hahaha...They made good salted fish & chicken fried rice though :)
Was considered by the Chinese community as the best dim sim spot in Christchurch, which served fresh, authentic Cantonese food. Service is also very friendly for Chinese restaurant standards. The mains (dinner menu) had always been a tier below their dim sim, but were still solid overall. Rumour has it that the owner recently sold this restaurant, and the quality has dropped. I however cannot taste a difference, and still consider this place to be a great dim sim spot.
Delicious food! Good & sincere service from staff. Well done 👍
I had the hot and sour soup a week ago but tonight I tried the crispy roast pork on rice I bought extra food as I thought the meal would be small I was definitely wrong the pieces of pork were big, juicy and chunky. Tasty, fresh... a good amount of veggies served with it. The hot and sour soup was better this time and had lots of different things in it. And the dumplings have a good amount of filling and flavour and are served hot and fresh. My only down point is the rice was cold and the waiter asked me to pay before I ate. Otherwise yum.. definitely have it again. Oh and I thought the pork might have been served with red sauce... but still yummy. Inconsistent with taste, food temperature and portion size sometimes I get lots of pork other times I get very little, yet the price has gone up... . Sometimes rice is cold sometimes less or more bok choy, please keep it consistent. The bigger the better...
Amazing well priced food. Yummy yum cha! We all love this place and its new location.
Comes highly recommended by me and my family.
Always has been the best dim sum in Christchurch! 👍
Great BBQ Chinese. Now corner of Greers and Wairakei not Lincoln Rd. Had a great BBQ Roast Pork and Honey BBQ Pork. Smaller restaurant than before on Lincoln Rd. Had piece on it in The Press today. Popular and full. It'd pay to book ahead on weekends and end week.
I used to come here a lot for yum cha when this restaurant was still in Addington. Last week I visited this restaurant again in the new location. The shop is quite smaller now but the food still taste the same. Yummy! Apart from the price was quite dear now(like anywhere else). Nothing to complain.
Like the deep fried squid is 12 dollar. I was really surprised to see this price. This is most expensive deep fried squid compared to other Chinese restaurants.
Highly rate the wonton soup was so good and portion was bigger than expected! Food also came out fairly quick. Overall great experience and will definitely pop in again :)
As a Cantonese, I am so glad to find this restaurant. Food is so good and authentic. Taste like home.Much better than Maxim. Good service! Awesome place for Yun Cha. The Cantonese roasted duck and Peking Duck is perfect.
Good yum cha for lunch. Have been to north and south for many years. Always has delicious dim sum at lunch time. Egg tart is always fresh and hot. Prawn dumplings and duck dumplings are delicious. Deep fried squid is also very nice. Egg plant and tofu with black bean source are my favorite too. Highly recommend for lunch.
I was so excited when I found that North & South opened on Greers Road. As we used to go the original in Addington. And it didn't disappoint. Very beautifully decorated and clean. Staff were very friendly. Food was amazing! The 4 of us were starving so ordered crispy chicken wings for entrée, hot and sour soup medium (the best we have had so far), beef brisket with bean curd sticks (so yummy, just way too much bean curd sticks), steamed blue cod (omg, this was so good) and large white rice. On hindsight, the soup, cod and rice would have been enough as we were way too full, and couldn't finish the food. Spent about $40 per person, but thats cos the Blue cod was expensive. We are definitely coming back. Can't wait to try the dim sum.
Went back today for lunch Dim Sum/Yum Cha. 16/9/2023. The above review was from about a month ago.
4 adults and 1 tween this time. Large quantities, very yummy, fast and friendly service. Food was served very quickly. We ordered
Roast duck porridge which just had duck meat and lots of it, I've never had that before. Usually it's all the bony bits.
Century Egg and pork porridge. Lots of huge chunks of century egg and pork pieces.
Beef ho fun. Very good and not too oily.
Chicken feet, again generous portions
Beef tendons - could have been more tender but still good.
Crispy chicken wings cos my son loved it so much last time, he had to have it again this time
Pork stomach
Xiao Long Pao
Bbq pork buns
Radish cake in XO sauce
Deepfried eggplant
Prawn Chiong Fan
We spent just under $118. Could have maybe ordered a couple of dishes less as we were all way too full.
Restaurant was busy, luckily we booked, as walk in customers had to be turned away. We arrived at 11.45am and left at 1pm. And it was full the whole time.
And we got a $10 off our next visit voucher. Which was a nice surprise.
Next visit we will try the peking duck.
