Excellent meats, from farm to plate. I got the rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly, very juicy and tasty, one of the best rack of lamb I’ve had! Nothing to do with some other touristy places we tried on Eat Street.
This quaint place in Rotorua didn't fail to surprise us and buoy!! What a place it was. The steaks were to die for and Yogi was a master in his suggestion for the meat and style of preparation. Whoever finds themselves in Rotorua, close your eyes and land up at the Number 8 Wire - it'll be an experience to remember. All the best to the team and special shout-out to Yogi. Great job guys!!
The deco is a bit outdated but the food is outstanding, I ordered a lamb rump and this big piece of meat was cooked to perfection! The restaurant was almost empty but still took a while for the food to come so I guess they use slow cook method for the meat which I absolutely don't mind :)
Absolutely phenomenal food and service. We've had great food in Rotorua but this place absolutely takes the cake.
Steaks were cooked perfectly, no faults, and incredibly tender so could be cut with a butter knife. Yogi was very accommodating and went above and beyond to cater to my love of peppercorn sauce, which was not on the menu (his chef and he made a beautiful mix of peppercorn and Port jus) and it was one of the best sauces I've ever had with a steak.
Quieter as they are located off Eat St, however nowhere near as commercialized and if you want a more intimate dining experience with faultless food and service, this is the place.
Had a really nice dinner here! The beef was perfectly cooked - tender, juicy and savoury. The cosy atmosphere coupled with the hospitality perfected the dining experience!
Had a really good time and would love to come back if I travel in Rotorua again! :)
**Update 3rd time I have been here after 9months:
Unfortunatelyhave to drop to 3 stars.
I took my 3 colleagues here, we were the only table whenwe arrived. Too long waiting time for being the only customers, plus with the new ordering system with tablets, 3/6 dishes we ordered were wrong.
They offered gelato to us at the end, but we went home not completely satisfied, although even the wrong dishes tastes good**
They should tell from minute one what is not available in the menu.
However food was nice, came out quickly but was not busy
A bit overpriced, but must try it
Menu is not huge, that is why.food is done properly

Came here 14/1/2023 for a special occasion dinner with friends. I ordered the Pork Belly entree and Lamb Rack main. Both were delicious and the meat was melt in the mouth. 100% recommend this place. 5 stars 🌟
Charming little restaurant in the centre of Rotorua. Lovely service by Bailey and the owner made a real effort to make sure everything was enjoyable. A nice selection of NZ wines. The scallops were delicious, the venison carpaccio was a very nice quality of meat, and the rump of lamb was tasty and cooked perfectly. Finished with the steam pudding which was a nice touch.
I took my young son in for something different to our usual, because we had the Entertainment Book discount. I had the lamb, it was amazing - cooked perfectly. My son had the fish and chips which looked pretty plain but he enjoyed it. There weren't many people so it wasn't too noisy which I liked. But the tables are spaced well enough that if it was full it wouldn't feel too overwhelming. Recommend.
