Best place in Miramar to have a coffee or light lunch, staff are friendly and dutiful. Absolutely love their pancakes and smoothies I'd thoroughly recommend anyone go there

Have been here a few times and food has always been good and flavoursome usually quite busy but fast service and not a long wait time for food.
Will be back!

I've been here a couple times and the food has always been good. Better than that is the service. The staff here are always friendly and today - on a rubbish Wellington weather day - they took a coffee order over the phone and even carried the multiple coffees out to my car as I had a toddler in tow. I'll definitely be going back! (Great coffee too).

This is one of my favorite cafés in Wellington. Only down side is it can be very busy, buy that's because it's really good! :-) Generous serving sizes and most importantly friendly and polite staff!! :-)

Constantly great food. We just ordered a Chocolate Frog Milkshake and a Fruit Smoothie, but the food in the past has been tasty and well priced. Our Chocolate Frog milkshake was amazing, and the fruit smoothie was really good. The slices in the cabinet were huge, some of the biggest I've seen. And again the place was very busy.
Nice clean cafe, with polite friendly staff.

A popular café within Palmer’s garden centre in miramar. But can they make a cup of tea? This was my 11th stop, after Bon Gusto in Miramar in search of a decent cup.

The most noticeable thing about this café was that it contained five times more people than the garden centre in which it resides. Clearly it is popular independently of the foliage.

Slightly rumpty but cosy interior, cramped and warm with a gas heater going on one of Wellington’s rare cold days.

Counter cabinet contained the usual cakes and slices with my eyes resting on a slice of Louise Cake. This is a traditional layering of shortcake, raspberry jam, coconut and meringue. A good one equals any pavlova in taste, and its NewZild pedigree equals that of the flabby meringue. The trick is to get the right balance between the layers. It is not as simple as it looks, and cafes vary wildly in their abilities to generate a good one.

Only one black tea – English Breakfast Tea. So I ordered a Louise cake and an EBT.

The demographics on midday Thursday were primarily middle aged and elderly women holding loud and rather interesting conversations.

The Louise arrived quickly, delivered by a very nice young lady. The tea followed reasonably quickly.

The tea was loose leaf in a small round pot. It came with a warm thick-walled cappuccino cup and a small pot of milk. It poured a good colour, nice depth of flavor, malty with a gentle astringency and a nice sipping temperature. It had real character and “tasted like tea”. One of the first that I really enjoyed drinking. When asked, the lady told me it was t-Leaf tea.

The Louise was rather thick on the shortcake and thin on the jam. It was OK but not delicious.

So for the tea:

1. Specialist tea offerings (the variety of unflavoured teas): 1/5
2. Brew temperature (the likelihood that the tea was brewed with boiling water): 5/5
3. Cup temperature (how much of a heat sink was the cup – a thick, cold pottery cup scores 0, a warm thin china cup scores 5): 2/5
4. Milk requirements (was I asked about milk and what type of milk): 0/5
5. Strength (too weak or strong =0, just right = 5): 5/5
6. Taste (bad=0, excellent=5): 4/5

I was in Miramar and stopped in to The Chocolate Frog Cafe for something warm yet quick to eat. After looking over their menu, I decided to try their soup of the day, which was a tomato basil bisque that came with toasted sourdough. The soup clearly made with fresh ingredients and had a lot of flavour. The portion-size for the price was a little small but maybe that could be fixed with a few extra slices of toasted bread. Overall, the quality of the meal was great as well as the service.

Looking for a nice place for brunch with a friend or two? Look no further than here. The food was impressive, great selection and perfectly presented. It's super busy on the weekend but well worth the wait.

The Chocolate Frog has been in Miramar for years. It is consistently great and has a wide variety of food to suit all tastes including my favourite, mince on toast. You can even get a steak for breakfast...

The coffee is good, the space is set inside the garden shop and is warm even in winter. Service is excellent.

The food tastes good. The chicken caesar always reliable lunch. The dining area can be cold in winter and overly hot in summer.

Updated 01/06/2023 So good I had to come back for their Scones, Keto Benny, and their Caramelised Onion & Cheese Toastie. This time, I had the toastie with Sourdough Bread (2nd order). Super delish and satisfying 😍 Loved the vibe of the place and definitely the friendly staff who obliged my requests for "extra toasted, extra chocolaty and extra butter." The Date Scones, extra toasted was so so so good. OMG. Heaven in my mouth. The Keto Benny with Cheesy Muffin was also very, very good. The cheesy fragrant was wafting the air. Had these with a side of black pudding too. Very good. And greedy me also got a Bacon, Cheese and Caramelised Onion Toastie. The Caramelised Onions were da bombs. Best I ever tasted ever!!! Thanks fit a fantastic meal!!

Ordered the Corn Fritters with Halloumi at opening time on a Friday morning. Three thick corn fritters were a good portion size. Topped with two large strips of halloumi, salad leaves, grilled tomato, and tzatziki sauce on the size. The fritters were seasoned well.

Fantastic experience for lunch today. The place was packed but the waitress was extremely onto it clearing a space for us. Food came out quick and everything was 10/10. Fair prices and great atmosphere and the perfect spot for a classic kiwi cafe lunch.

The food here was great. The Eggs Benedict we're very tasty, and the beef mince was fantastic. They also have great desserts and coffees, plenty variations of cakes and pastries. Definitely recommend their chocolate mousse cake. The restaurant itself is located inside the store to the left. They have a small indoor and outdoor area. Definitely recommend for a tasty breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Busy Sunday lunchtime. Very tasty creamy garlic mushrooms and bacon on ciabatta. No water bottles but there were plastic cups and a water tap, so all good

Delicious, amazing food. Exactly what you want even if you couldn't imagine it. Coffee is fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed without being boring. The signs are funny and the staff are fantastic! We were offered a high chair because we were holding our baby which was really thoughtful and helpful. All in all the perfect spot for brunch, especially on a sunny day but it's covered for all weather
