Decided to support the locals and visit Park Kitchen (@parkkitchenmiramar) to get some Sunday lunch.
Cheese & Onion Scone $5 🧀🧅
Me and the old man really enjoyed the scone a lot 🙃. Good portion size and the scone was soft and fluffy, making it enjoyable to bite into. Flavours were on point, we could really taste the cheese/onion 🧀🧄from start to finish.
Buttermilk Chicken with Mash Potatoes $19 🐓🥔
The main was a mixed bag for me. I was expecting to get strips/cuts of buttermilk fried chicken breasts or tenderloins with pickles like you would normally expect in the dish.
Enjoyed the mashed potato 🥔 and gravy as it was soft and had a nice, creamy texture to it🥛🧈. The chicken leg was a letdown. Although the meat was cooked well on the inside, the buttermilk batter made the chicken look and taste a bit too dry for my liking.
Tiramisu Muffin $5🧁
We enjoyed the muffin as it delivered a strong taste of coffee, a hint from the muffin and then the extra kick with the coffee beans. Liked the creaminess of the sweet cream topping. Great job 👍🏽 on the sweet treat.
Final Words
Overall, I was happy with my experience at The Park Kitchen. Despite the letdown from the main, I will visit again to try out the Korean Chicken Burger + another muffin 🧁 or coffee ☕️ to go.
Nice atmosphere :) friendly staff and good service. The croissant was great.
During a weekend in Wellington, our hosts suggested PK for an evening meal. After consulting Zomato I was apprehensive because of the average review score and recent comments. I am very pleased to say that any concern was quickly swept away by what was a completely enjoyable eating experience for our party of five. A smallish yet interesting menu with attentive staff who detailed the specials. Prompt service and delicious food. Satisfaction all round!
When we entered the retra we had a mix feeling looking at their menu, prices and kitchen however thought to give it a try! The menu is short but the food is good.Mushroom pizza, rissoto, pork belly were quite well prepared. Service is fine and not slow or quick. Ambience is nice and outdoor seating is bonus.
Let's describe Park Kitchen in one word. RESERVED.
Popped in at about 9.30am on a Sunday morning to a sea of reserved signs and tables already filled with early birds ready to catch the Park Kitchen worm.
Where to begin.
The staff are lovely. The manager was able to accommodate us on a table for two, letting us know that it was booked in an hour. Fine by us!
Coffee. Havana. How can you go wrong? Well, you can't. My LB was strong, smooth and perfect. I could have had a second but shouldn't be greedy...
The menu is great. Simple and sophisticated all rolled in one. Yes, that is probably an oxymoron but I can't think of a better way to describe it. See for yourself.
The atmosphere and furnishings are also.... well... simple and sophisticated. It's like being in a funky lounge/dining area in a friends house. You feel jealous that you dont have half the cool furniture and fittings and wonder where they got it. Probably not Kmart.
Food. My Vege Big Brekkie was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. The hashbrown is the hero with the halloumi, eggs and mushroom all playing great support roles.
If I could give this place a 5++ I would. I'll be back.
Staff are extremely friendly, atmosphere is extremely nice, music not too loud, and the food is oh so good. Plus a chocolate fish with my coffee is a bonus.
I am truly surprised on why other reviewers are not giving this restaurant a higher rating. I love this place and so do the rest of my family. The food is delicious and service is great. I recommend the lamb cutlets dish and market fish dish. We will definitely come back here again.
First visit here for Dinner with my partners family, and I totally enjoyed it! I had the spatchcock, 3 ordered the pork schnitzel, 1 had the burger and my partner ordered the pizza. One pork main was still a bit raw, the staff were really good about it offering extras but we were okay as the overall experience was great.
Park Kitchen, opposite The Roxy Cinema in Miramar, touts itself as a neighbourhood eatery and bar. Its standard must reflect Miramar’s status as the heart of ‘Wellywood’, as a lot of money would have been poured into the design and furnishing. The lightness of the walls an the use of pale wood reminds me of another popular establishment on Cuba Street in Wellington – Loretta’s.
Came here for brunch. The Salmon Gravlax with cold-smoked salmon was fannnnntastic.
The crepes were less so, but still very tasty.
Also the coffees are very nicely done.
The food was great, reasonably priced and service was prompt. The staff were lovely and friendly without being in our faces. On arrival, when we asked about the parking on the street because we wanted to keep an eye on our dog outside, the staff showed us around the back to an amazing covered outdoor courtyard which was cosy and comfortable and dog-friendly! We’ll definitely come back - a firm favorite restaurant now!
Hash cake with poached egg, added smoked fish. It was good. Soup was a miss today which is a shame as it was so good last time. Fantastic indoor out door area.
Amazing! Food, coffee, service, atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting and have a good selection of vegetarian dishes or options to make a dish vegetarian.
One of Miramars hidden gems.
I was in a hurry but will definitely return for a longer meal.
The milkshake looked amazing and tasted great.
Highly recommended.
I went to pk with my brother and our kids and it was an absolute delight. I was served by Olivia and she was one of the best servers I’ve EVER met. 10/10 would recommend yum food great staff!!
New menu! Lots of vegetarian/vegan options.
Great service and breezy, fun vibe :-)
Overall we love Park Kitchen. It can be hit and miss at times, but overall a good experience with nice staff. Their mushroom truffle pizza is amazing and worth getting every time. I had the whole flounder tonight and it was so fresh tasting, lovely citrus flavors and well seasoned. It was one of the best whole flounders that I have had out in Wellington and I highly recommend it. The Mr. had a burger, and it was ok is what he said.
We had such a good experience here. The food was delicious, we had the squid, fried cauli, scotch fillet and the risotto with the choc tart to go as we were stuffed from the meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful! We will definitely return when we are next in Wellington!! Thanks Park kitchen 😁
Not bad atmosphere, food is not bad but it would’ve been better if staffs greet us with smile.
Been here a few times, and love it. Cater well to kids in general, adult food is great. Had an amazing steak here last weekend. Steak was very flavoursome and well cooked. Perhaps a bit light on the gnocchi that came with it. Would probably want to add a side if not getting desert. Kids burger was great but very frugal fish with the kids fish n chips. Desert cheese cake was divine. Great miramar option.
