Had lunch here after a bridal fitting with daughter across the road. Really liked the atmosphere, large bar area. Great menu. Espresso martinis were good! We ordered squid, fries, chicken burger, tacos. All our food was excellent, good tasty pub food and affordable. The winner was the garlic loaf, best I have ever had anywhere in NZ! The bread was delish and the whipped garlic butter was perfect. Would definitely go back!

Well-stocked, clean rooms in a charming old building. Staff are accomodating (My flight arrived very late and they happily arranged a late check-in for me with notice despite their reception hours not extending to the time of my arrival), bed was comfortable and had an electric blanket, and the whole process was nice and straightforward. Thank you :)

Always great service from EJ and his staff. Kitchen staff do great meals. Rooms are clean and modern for an old building. Free off street parking is a bonus. Highly recommend the Shepherds Arms.

Nice atmosphere. Run out of Hazy IPA and some food items, but still a nice spot for a pint. Could do with bigger screens to watch the game but there were several.

Rooms were clean and tidy even if a bit musty and dated. Lovely staff and food was top notch. Especially the Lamb Shanks 😋

I love this pub. It's wide open, disability friendly, the staff are great, the food is delicious and the quiz night is fun! Can't say about the accommodation because I haven't stayed.

Went there for dinner and ordered the mussels which was served in pot. The delicious Asian flavour of the mussels just warmed my heart and stomach! I finished up the sauce as if it was soup, well maybe it is the soup to my soul... The mussels is a MUST order!

Finding a car park can be tricky at times, but the pub restaurant has great food, service, and ambience.

Basic, clean, friendly and fantastic value in a great position near the city centre (10 mins walk to Beehive). It’s awesome to see ‘Old School’ pub accommodation still exists where you can ‘choose’ to have a shared toilet/shower space, to remember life before the en suite! Oh and it’s a great pub downstairs with real good food. The mussels were superb. And to top it all - free parking. Thank you - I will be back.
