This place is fantastic! Nice relaxed friendly atmosphere. The food is great portions and delicious home made style. You can't go wrong. And the prices are really good.

Best egg and bacon sarnie in town, with endless coffee and a paper to read all for $6 in the middle of the CBD...always a fantastic welcome and homely environment.
Although I work at the other end of town these days, I still jump on a bus and head down there for lunch as often as I can.
The $2 sausage rolls go unchallenged in both quality and value. If there was a world championship of sausage rolls, John’s Kitchen and Takeaways would take the gold medal in a heartbeat. Now, if you happened to stumble down to this homely little kitchen around 2pm, then you're in for a treat. At this time the $1 special begins, which has a popular, vulture-like following that cleans out the kitchen of all the delicatessens that never made it into the mouths of fellow admirers. One thing you can be confident in is that you are getting the freshly made goods down gullets everyday.
I stumbled upon John's Kitchen and Takeaways this morning. What a treasure!! A beautiful range of food with a special offer -one large muffin and endless filter coffee for only $5, while reading the paper and listening to wonderful music. I loved pouring my milk from a jug. I loved the uplifting wall decor. I love this little place - the colour, the cleanliness, the retro look and feel, plus the stunning welcome! Thank you John's Kitchen Family. I will come again!
Love this place. I was casually looking through to check out the menu and was welcomed to come in and have a look. This place has excellent home cooked styled food and I was given an endless cup of coffee and a newspaper.
You can't get better atmosphere than home cooked food, newspaper, endless coffee and music that reminds me having breakfast with my grandpa (in a good way). Ditch the high-tech cafes of today and find yourself here in a comfortable place with comfortable food.
A hidden gem.
Very reasonable priced, excellent service and very clean . A great welcome and always a hello from the kitchen. The kind of service you get from somewhere that's newly opened, I was shocked to find out they have been there for 11 years.
I've been there a few times now and there is always a friendly atmosphere.
I would recommend it to anyone who is fed up with the bad service and food available in Wellingtons CBD.
