We stumbled upon Bian by accident, and I'm glad we did. Inside was a variety of sushi, donburi, and sashimi. I had crispy teriyaki chicken and teriyaki chicken. The rice was incredibly fresh and you could tell it was recently cooked. My favourite was the crispy sushi. The price was very reasonable, the setting was comfortable and the staff were very helpful.
Was at a birthday party and they ordered Bian sushi! The rice was really really nice. Really enjoyed it! We finished it like it was nothing! Yum nom nom
Pretty good sushi restaurant for take away. I used tp came here a lot coz i live across the street. Curry pork donburi is pretty yum. Service always nice and friendly
Bian sushi is a cosy sushi spot located on Symonds Street. They have a wide variety of donburi and sets to choose from. Their sushi doesn't have as much variety as say, Umi sushi on in Elliot Food court but I would say that Brian's tastes a lot better. The best part is being able to add your own sauce after picking your sushi.
I got a salmon salad with a side of tamago, teriyaki salmon nigiri and a Californian roll with marinated carrots. The salad was generous with the portion of salmon, as it should be because it was a little pricey. The sushi itself was very good, full of flavour and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. My partner ordered an array of their sushi and agrees that it is worth every penny.
Service was great and the environment was clean as well Definitely coming back here again.

Pretty sure I saw Lorde here once having a feed and a yarn to some nz Radio DJ, can't verify that though. Anyway, this place is definitely worth the money with tasty sushi and udon noodles. Have tried most items on their menu and their Katsu Don curry was is ok but not amazing. Their special mayonnaise based sauce takes the icing on the cake and makes everything tastier. A 5 star rating for value for money and taste! Would recommend!
Hands down this IS the best place to get sushi in Auckland. The staff are always friendly and the sushi is always fresh and so tasty.
I also enjoy the donburi and udon noodles when I dine in.
Seeing they were voted best sushi by metro and viva in the past it was tempting to give their sushi a try! But being a cold day we wanted something warm and comforting. We ordered the katsu chicken donburi and the teriyaki tofu donburi with a side of salad each to takeaway. The portions were really decent and we could've got away with the smaller size for lunch.
Both donburis were good, even though it took us 20mins to get home and eat them. The katsu chicken was really tender and well crumbed. There was a generous amount of tofu and it was well flavoured with plenty of sauce on the rice. Only downside to both dishes is they don't come with salad or veggies.
The service is friendly and quick. The restaurant is pretty simple but ideal for this type of food. The rows of self serve sushi looked very appealing and they have a big selection to choose from - using different ingredients than your standard. Will definitely give their sushi a go next time!
Great tasting food. Never tried the sushi but it looked incredible! On my lunch break so the quick service was much appreciated but thought it was a little expensive for the area ($21 for mixed tempura (all veg & 1 prawn) with teriyaki chicken donburi). Chinese on the corner does all you can eat for $10 so maybe I'm just being cheap 🙊
im not gonna lie, my go to sushi is mercury plaza but today the tables turned and my friends took me here, they swore by it.
im a classic sushi gal you know, i like a few things in me sushi. avocado and salmon is my favourite. i like prawn nigiri, avo nigiri and seaweed salad.
so thats what i got cause it was on offer. m88888 the salmon pieces were huge, im telling ya its no sushi of the day at st pierres. bloody quality. $1.40 per piece is pretty steep but i was willing to pay as there was more ingredients than rice.
theyre ratios are bloody 10/10 folks.
also you get to grab YOUR OWN wasabi and ginger which is great cause too many places bloody stinge out and you dont have enough condiments.
ALSO THEY HAD so many different condiments which i loved. i wanted to keep it O.G so i just got soy, ginger and wasabi. but my friends got this white sauce that tasted like ... a mix between big mac sauce and tartare and m8 its fiyyyyaaahh and i ate heaps of theirs. infact i might go here next time im making burgers and ask for some sauce cause that would be dope
im not a local to this area but if im in area and want sushi i will return.
Introduced to this place today by a work colleague as I've just started a new job. Have had horrible sushi in the past and so thought I wasn't really into sushi until trying the sushi here. I'm a convert! I'll be back for more - loved the pumpkin, oyster and pork sushi. Delicious!
Teriyaki beef donburi here is awesome, as are the katsu curry donburi. Delicious sushi too. They also have the most tasty mayo onion and herb sauce I've ever tried - it's beside the self service wasabi/sauces. Free self-service green tea if you are dining in :)
Food was great. Spicy chicken and salmon donburi are must try. Udon soup was great and spicy chicken on the sides was tender and cooked to perfection.
Some interesting options of 🍣 sushi. What I really like about the place is you can pick and choose, so you literally have 6 pieces of sushi and all of them can be different.
I would definitely like to add a note on the wasabi, that stuff is really strong, compared to a whole bunch I have had in Auckland.
All on all definitely a must-try place for sushi

Every time I want to eat sushi, I always come to this place. Very delicious, variety of sushi to choose from. Their Katsu curries are also yummy !
AMAZING SUSHI! Friendly and helpful staff as well. I would rate with 6 (or more) stars if I could.
Fantastic bento boxes & the sushi looked good too. Will definitely return!
Definitely a good place for gimbap and sushi.
My go to for lunch after work. They serve some good and filling sushi rolls. Sushi is always a delight to eat.
Came here for lunch. We usually go to a different place closer to town for our sushi fix, but decided to try something different this time. Bian Sushi reminded me what proper good sushi should taste like! They had a good variety of rolls for a decent price - my plate full ran me about $15 while my partner's salmon salad and sushi rolls was a bit more at $18. Self serve with the toppings and a variety of sauces, which is nice - I don't often see that anymore. It's not a huge place and it's quite busy but if you want a good meal at a decent price give it a try!
