Wonderful bar and club. Can't speak for the food as we did not have a meal there but we thoroughly enjoyed the open and wide bar atmosphere. This place also has a great DJ! Standard alcohol prices, good music and great crowd.
Always great food and great service, relaxed dining in a group or more intimate if in a couple..prices reflect the quality and presentation of food
From its lifestylish outdoor arrangement to its indoor castle Inn terior, this Italian specialty is one of my favorite places Christchurch has to offer. The service is top notch and the food is seriously very delicious from its small but accommodating anti pasto starter to its Carne Pizza mains, my only gripe is the price for starting dishes such as the Baretta salad which is a plate of leaves for $22 which is silly really even for fine dining. However this is compensated by the fantastic service, delicious pizzas and crazy fun nightlife
The pizzeria that keeps on giving. By evening Beretta is mature wifh class and by late is transformed into a sprawling tranche of the Christchurch night life. I do love this place, great cocktails. Recommendable to all.
We visited with a Grab One voucher on a Wednesday night. The food was lovely; very tastefully presented and tasted lovely. We love the ambience of Baretta. The wine list was very average and quite pricey for what was on offer. Not a great selection.
The service was very substandard. The waiter tried hard but was clearly too busy for just one person to manage.
Whilst we love the ambience and don't hesitate to go if there is a Grab One voucher on offer, I would not pay full price as I consider it to be overpriced for what you get.
Amazing food..l had the pork belly and it was so tender and the accompanying vegetables amazing..the staff were friendly and extremely helpful..l highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal
Outstanding place. Suitable for a formal or a casual outing. Food/beverages A+. Phenomenal interiors and ambience. Very friendly staff and top notch service.
Tried this for first time, everything was delicious. Staff were very attentive. Entrees were very nice, and big servings. Pork belly for a main was awesome. Very tender melted in mouth, would definitely go back.
Steamed mussels and Arancini were the entrées. These were just beautiful.
I had the glazed pork belly as main. The lean part was too dry and needs more seasoning/gravy. The dish was not balanced.
Veal ribeye was for my partner and it was a good one.
Btw the vintage deco style is a big plus.
Baretta is one of my favorite establishments in the city for two reasons: 1) the food is amazing and 2) their outdoor patio bar is a great place to mingle with young professionals in the city. Visit Baretta on a weekend night and be sure you're into the bar well before 10:00 as the line of 20 and 30-somethings extends down the block. If you're visiting for the restaurant and a little taste of Italy in Christchurch, be sure to make a booking a few days in advance. They DO have Entertainment Guide coupons!
FOOD: My husband and I started with the grilled ciabatta with parsley pesto and olive jam. The bread was extremely filling, so I definitely recommend sharing with several people. The olive jam was my favorite spread, but the parsley pesto is light and bright and an interesting take on pesto. We decided to split the side salad with parmesan cheese on top and a light balsalmic dressing. It was a crisp salad with a lot of complementary tastes. I ordered the Chicken Leg as my main and it was cooked beautifully: juicy and tender. It was served with pickled pumpkins (which were very interesting) potatoes with ricotta and garnished with radishes. I cleaned the plate! I just wish there had been about one serving less of the pickled pumpkins. My husband ordered the Squid Ink Gnocchi with mussels and calamari. If you enjoy the smell of fish and seafood overload, this is the dish for you. My husband enjoyed it, but the smell was overwhelming for me (a non-fish eater). We opted to pair the meal with a bottle of Chandon, but their wine list is quite extensive and the waiter will be more than happy to offer pairing suggestions. In fact, the waiters at the restaurant are on top of their game. Never was a glass left empty nor were we left alone for too long (but not in a creepy hovering way). He seemed to have his eye on our table at all times which made the evening a breeze.
Step outside before or after your meal to enjoy a cocktail from the patio bar. Often there is live music playing and heated tables to relax on.
What's the catch for the place? Be prepared to hand over your first born child with the meal as it ain't cheap. But quality food and impeccable service comes with a price.
Only been here a few times. The first was for an evening meal. Beautiful food and great service. We went for an afternoon platter on a nice day one other time. I definitely recommend one of the platters on a nice day outside listening to music and having a beverage. Attentive staff great food and a nice unique environment. And the value for money aspect was fine. Not faultless but up there as far as restaurants in Christchurch are concerned
Got the grabone deal for a going away present to my mom. The food was wonderful but my only complaint would be that 3 of the 5 courses were all deep fried so it sat a little heavy especially with a panacotta desert. Other than that though, everything was wonderful and great wine pairings.
Went here for lunch with my husband (we had a grabone) and was really impressed. We got (to split) the steak sandwich and pasta carbonara. Both were super delicious. My husband reckoned it was the best steak sandwich of his life. It was not very busy, which surprised me because the service and food was so good!
Outstanding. We had the grabone degustation dinner with matching wines and it was FLAWLESS. Amazing service, great atmosphere, we could not ask for better. 10/10.
Awesome decor, friendly staff and even more delicious food.
Had a great lunch here on Saturday. The welcome was good and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The meal was very good, each dish we had was exceptionally tasty. The wine was great too. All finished off with a very nice coffee. Couldn't have been better, will revisit!
Stopped in for dinner as it wasn't crowded, pleasantly supeised. The menu is small but the food was delicious. Service was great too, we asked for some red sauce to go with the fried ravioli and the chef seems to have made it from scratch! Only complaint is that the bar was slow, we were done with dinner before getting our second drink.
Really good value 5 course degustation meal. All courses very well cooked and presented. Efficient and friendly service. Great wine matches. The only let down was a TV on the wall in the restaurant area which could be off when people are dining. All in all a very good evening.
Went there for lunch, was not very busy. It's definitely more night clubbier than it is restauranty. It has dark decor and minimal windows . But other wise nice enough. It does have a court yard, but the weather wasn't particularly good so we didn't use it. Staff were friendly and efficient drinks and food both came quickly and were good. Tired some food of their express menu which seems to be a basic lunch time menu. It was good though and reasonably priced. Happy to say the food was basic but much better than expected
Amazing Italian food. Portions are big so get ready to get a doggy bag. Nice backyard with bars outside and we got lucky with some live music just before Christmas. A place frequented by locals it seems. Thus, very friendly atmosphere.
Great food (highly recommend the arancini balls and chicken burger - although a little spicy), beautiful coffee, and lovely atmosphere outside! Only negative is I wish there was more comfortable seating outside like they used to have.
