We were welcomed by the crew and guided us to our table. The ambience was really adorable. Good place to dine in. Good customer service.
The food: our favourite was the Ceviche. It has fresh ingredients and refreshing flavours. The crispy corn shards gave at a great texture and flavour. Our family also tried the fried boneless chicken with two mayo sauces: jalapeno and chipotle. Both gave compliments to the chicken but I loved the jalapeno more. The tacos came on a single order. We've tried the chicken, pork, and fish tacos. Soft tacos and each one offered a good combination of flavour. My favourite among the three was the fish. It had multiple texture and flavours the created a balance taste. The beef brisket burger also tasted good. The chicken quesadilla came into four pieces and was good to share. We've also tried the patatas bravas. Cut into cubes and fried. Dressed with chipotle mayo, salsa, and crispy kale. The stuffed jalapeno and the coleslaw that came with it is a must have.
For the dessert, we've tried the churros with dulce de leche sauce. The churros were perfectly cooked and seasoned. However, I wish that the sauce could have been a little bit thicker so it can stick to the churros better.
All the drinks that we had also tasted good. We've tried the tropical guava, the pineapple-strawberries, and the horchata (a rice based drink).
The restaurant interior decor is awesome and so colourful in the Mexican theme. Loved all the framed photographs on the walls and the brightly coloured toilets.
The service from our waiter was fine, but just could've been a bit more friendly and we felt a bit rushed when asked a few times if we're ready to order. It would've been good service to introduce themselves and ask the customer if they need help with the menu.
The food was really good and tasty. We had the braised brisket tacos and the slow braised lamb shoulder quesadilla with crispy cauliflower on the side. Good presentation to serve the main meals on a wooden board. All dishes were very yummy. Also had the churros for dessert. I thought it would've been served with a yummy rich caramel sauce but it was more like a slightly sweet peanut/almond sauce as it had chopped nuts in it.
The cocktails and sangria are good too.
Atmosphere was busy and very child-friendly. My only criticism about the menu is it doesn't tell you if there is 1 or 2 tacos served with the meal or the size of the taco. I only found this out by asking the waiter about the meals.
Review Title: A Fiesta of Flavors at Mexico Petone!
I recently dined at Mexico Petone, and it was nothing short of a culinary adventure! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant atmosphere caught me in its warm embrace. The eclectic decoration, reminiscent of a colorful Mexican street, sets the perfect backdrop for a lively and enjoyable dining experience.
The staff at Mexico Petone was exceptional—always attentive, friendly, and prompt without being intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Their passion for their work shines through in the meticulous attention to detail and the welcoming environment they create.
Now, let's taco 'bout the food! The menu was a treasure trove of traditional Mexican dishes with a modern twist, and every bite was a discovery of fresh and bold flavors. The tacos are a must-try; with each bite, you're transported straight to culinary bliss. Perfectly crafted with homemade tortillas, filled with a choice of succulent meats, and topped off with fresh, zesty salsa, these tacos were a delight.
Their Quesadillas were equally impressive — a perfect blend of cheese and fillings that melted in my mouth, complemented by the smokey flavors of their house-made sauces. The Ceviche was a refreshing palate cleanser, with just the right amount of citrus to balance the fresh seafood.
Not to be overlooked are their handcrafted cocktails. The Margaritas were simply sublime, not too sweet, not too tangy, striking the perfect balance. Sipping on their cocktails was like enjoying a little sip of heaven.
Mexico Petone isn't just about dining; it's about the experience. The background music, a blend of contemporary and traditional tunes, was lively and yet not overpowering, allowing for easy conversation. It wrapped the entire dining experience in a festive and cheerful ambiance that makes you want to linger longer.
In conclusion, if you find yourself in Petone and in the mood for Mexican food, Mexico Petone isn't just a restaurant; it's a destination. Go for the food, stay for the joy, and leave with memories of a meal that is as much about passion as it is about flavor. Olé!
(And if you're pondering desserts - do yourself a favor and try their Churros, absolutely the icing on the cake of a magnificent dining experience!)
Loved every moment and morsel. Until next time, Mexico Petone!
