Best duck fried rice and roast/bbq meat! Relaxed environment, don't expect service like a restaurant. Same person running the place!
Arguably the best Chinese food place in Wellington. Their Duck Fried Rice has no rivals and is perfectly flavoured. Has the most reasonably priced food and relaxed service.
Came here for char siu faan to test against kc cafe. Quite lean meat and standard size in comparison. Slightly cheaper but the restaurant is fairly empty so very quiet to sit in.
I ordered a roast duck on rice, the duck meat was a little bit salty but very tasty. good portion for this price. Would recommend this place especially the duck on rice.
A family fave for feeding the troops without breaking the bank.
The Salt and Pepper Squid, Combination Bean Curd and Szechuan Fish Fillets are favourites. They go down a treat every time. We always leave with the feeling 'oh-we-ate-too-much'.
They get busy on the weekends and it gets really noisy- but who cares? Once the food comes on the table, it's no-holds-barred dining!
Me and my other half has been patrons of this solid establishment for a few years. Their roast duck is excellent and their milk tea is amongst the best there are with very soft and tasty pearls.
Visit it and give it a try for a cheap and cheerful eat.

The house specialty of meats (BBQ pork, roast pork, duck) and rice (with usual condiments) is what you're hankering then, in Wellington, this is the place.
The other (typical Chinese) offerings on the menu are 'ok' but in my opinion other local restaurants do those better.
Nothing flash about the ambiance but that's not what HK BBQ is about.
Service was certainly slower than usual on out most recent visit, but that hasn't been the norm on previous trips.
Great value for money. Food is reasonably good across the range, from Chinese BBQ meats to a la carte dishes, and there's always a range of fresh Asian vegetables they can stir fry for you which won't be on the menu, which you can simply ask. But you have to walk the extra 20 metres across Kent Terrace from Courtenay Place, which might be too far for some people. On a busy day, they can be understaffed so service will be slower than normal then. They also make excellent bubble tea, try the purple taro bubble tea if you can't decide what to choose.
I know the place looks messy and a wee bit disorganized but they work hard for the money.. great food here BBQ meats on point.. noodle soups are great as are their pork wontons soup. Great tasting and good value ..I took photo after I had eaten some pork !!!...
The food here is delicious and affordable. Service is hit and miss but forgive this! The beef fried rice noodles, dumplings, duck fried rice and any roast meat plates are amazing standout dishes
Ive been coming here the past five years and the dishes here are the best in town! The service is efficient and friendly. Worth every dollar you spend for authentic deliciously flavoured meals.
Not many prefer to go here but I think this is the best place to go for me when craving BBQ duck just love the fried rice and stir fry mixed veggies to eat with the meats!
Bought a group on coupon $25 dinner for 2 people: corn soup and a delicious half peking duck with salad. Recommend: The roast duck is the best no fat at all and full of meat.
Best Chinese food in the whole of NZ. Their roast: pork, duck etc are all 100% legit and crispy. Good service, affordable and I love going there.
