Best Indian food in Wellington.
Fantastic. Consistently great food and great service. I've been a regular here for a long time and frankly its my favourite food place in wellington. $12 lunch deal for the win!
Solo business trip on a miserable grey evening. Service here is very friendly, good selection of vegetarian dishes. Coconut rice especially good. I'll be back again.
Excellent customer service, top of the line Indian food.
Each curry had different taste and aroma, value for money.
Will recommend every Wellington visitor to at least dine in once, owner was in his toes and looked after every customer personally and made sure all things were right.
Veg n non veg both options are must to try.
Cheese garlic nan, onion Kulcha, paneer kadhai and chicken jalfrezi.
Very friendly staff and the butter chicken and chicken korma was divine.
I will definitely be back again
The restaurant was fairly busy as well
Got lunch takeaway from here today & it was delicious- I am not a big fan of Indian food but gave this a try after some recommendations - got 1 of the $12 lunch special - got butter chicken, coconut rice & a garlic naan - it was so good & a definite bargain. It was hot, flavoursome, portion was good. Give it a try - I will be back.no pic was to busy eating 🍽
Excellent restaurant. Great all round experience. 10 out of 10 times I go there I receive excellent service. I really appreciate that about the restaurant, when the service is consistently at a high standard. The staff are well trained and courteous, creating a very good first impression the moment you walk in. Food is excellent. Highly recommend the veal on the Maharaja section of the menu. The spices and flavors are very nicely blended together and create a unique flavor explosion on your tastebuds! Every time I've been there the rotis are also grilled to a very high standard. Never over burnt, overcooked. Love the saffron rice! The mango lassi really goes with the meal as well. Clearly a restaurant that takes pride in its food and sets very high standards. Highly recommended
Great India lived up to the name. Delicious take away saag with lamb paired with a Syrah and naan. Service was fast and friendly. We will be back.
Very impressed with this place! Came here tonight with my partner and was seated right away. The staff took extra care with creating a great customer experience. Curry it's self was a little watery, but the naan bread was fabulous. Honestly the best customer service I have ever experienced in a resturant in a long time. I would definitely return.
On a cold winter lunch this is a great place to spend an hour. I meet a few friends here and excellent quality and tastes, hosts are very welcoming. Shahi paneer is my choice, great Nan too.
It was a Sunday evening and came for the dinner.
Customer service is great and had a friendly service and food suggestions from Farhat.
Had Murgh Biriyani and Cheese Naan along with Masala Chai ( should try this) and they were awesome.
Im gonna come back..!!!
Thanks
Ok, I don't change my mind about Indian restaurants usually. Because this is the food that I grew up with. So very picky.
But this one I did. When I went here the first time in July, I thought this was one of those Indian joints for white people.
Posh. Tad expensive. Flavors toned down. Wasn't too kicked. Staff was great though!
But the second time no other restaurant was open on Diwali so went in anyways.
Ordered up food: Dalmakhni, Naan, Veg paneer curry. And boy was outstanding.
This time had flavours to mild and it was still punching. Still tasted like food back home. My friend who is a kiwi was in love too! Didn't think could beat two sets of audience with same food. They did :)
Very welcoming and amazing service from the team at Great India. The food was well portioned and cooked fresh. A hot towel at the end of the meal is the icing on the cake for me! Will definitely be coming back!
This is some of the best Indian food I have eaten. The flavours of almost every dish we tried were complex and layered, and the serving sizes are excellent for the price. The pakoras are the best I've had outside of an actual Indian kitchen, and the Dal soup was incredible.
The service is also fantastic, with a really nice mix of friendly and formal. A wonderful dining experience.
Went twice in two weeks as was in Wellington both weeks for business. First night was two of us. Food was awesome and fairly priced. Second week was a group of six. They tailored our meals for a group from entrees to mains and it was perfect. So much food for the price. And all of it was tasty. No complaints. Highly recommended.
Searched for Goan food on Google and this place came up, decided the reviews were good so would try it out when we visited Wellington. A shame that if only three people you can't reserve a table in advance but understandable. The waiter suggested an earlier rather than later time for dinning. We arrived just in time, the table was ready and we were given plenty of time to chose our meals. The food here is awesome to say the least, the menu gives you plenty to chose from and there will be something to suit most tastes. The dishes were rich and full of flavor. The staff were very pleasant and didn't hassle you, the restaurant was busy which made the advice of getting in earlier a wise one, would definitely want to eat here again.
Was a lovely meal and great service. Unfortunately a short lady left with my black woollen coat accidentally. I believe her and her partner were heading to the Credence Clearwater Collective show. The restaurant has my contact details if you would kindly return it. I left yours with them. Thank you🙏
Had the chicken Dopiaza and liked it a lot! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience!
First time here - Tonight’s Lamb Madras ticked all boxes! The sauce was flavoursome and the perfect authentic consistency, the lamb was tender and fall apart soft. the parantha and naans were delicious. The service was amazing, all the waiters and the manager were just fantastic. They really care about customer service here. The warm cloth at the end was such a nice unique touch!
Indian curry that’s a little bit fancy, with service to match. Curries were tasty, packed full of flavour, not greasy and won’t make you regret it the next day! We came for dinner on a Saturday night, no booking, and found a spot easily. The waiters were very attentive, the prices were very reasonable.
